4th of July
I spent the fourth weekend in Sula, Montana, at a photographer’s retreat — my very first time in the state — and it felt like stepping into a film. Landing in Missoula, I was immediately greeted by sweeping mountain panoramas that took my breath away. I stayed at the CUTEST hotel, The Wren, in downtown Missoula: a perfectly cozy hotel with authentic Montana decor, a personalized TV, and even a wilderness journal waiting for me on the bedside table.
While I waited for my ride the next morning, I wandered through downtown Missoula. Boutiques and specialty shops lined the streets, each doorway framing another stunning mountain view. The air was impossibly fresh, and everywhere I turned, there were tall pines and wide, open vistas. The landscape — dramatic peaks, endless sightlines, and dense forests — felt anything but ordinary.
The whole weekend was a vivid reminder of why photographers (and travelers) fall in love with Montana. I left already planning my next visit.
